Fewer animals at the waterhole, drinking faster
Five readings of $POPCAT in four days. At every reading the herd leaned harder toward buying. By the last one, nearly half the herd was gone. The cat, throughout, did nothing.
We took five readings of $POPCAT across four days. At every reading the herd leaned harder toward buying. At the last reading, nearly half the herd was gone.
Fewer animals at the waterhole. Drinking faster.
Specimen: $POPCAT (Solana). Anchor pool: Raydium POPCAT/SOL, FRhB8L7Y…LLMo, holding $2,901,196 at last reading. Window: 30 July to 2 August 2026, latest reading 0901 UTC on the 2nd. Counts aggregate the thirty pools we track, each a trailing twenty-four hours.
The first thing we measured was the lean. Buys per sell, across all thirty pools, reading by reading: 0.88, 1.06, 1.09, 1.21, 1.31.
Five readings. Not one flat, not one down. On the 30th of July the herd was net selling. Somewhere before the second reading it crossed one, and then it just kept walking in the same direction for four days.
The second thing we measured was the herd itself, and here we report the shape, because the ends alone would flatter the story. Total transactions per day: 2,489, then 2,260, then 2,475, then a swell to 3,184 on the 1st of August — and then 1,371. Buys counted: 1,167 at the first reading, rising to 1,745 at the peak, and then, in a single day, down to 778. The crowd grew for three days and lost more than half of itself on the fourth. The lean did not notice. The lean got steeper.
Price on the anchor pool, same window: $0.04158 to $0.04454. A crawl of about seven percent, upward, in small daily steps. Pooled liquidity crept up too, $3,433,352 to $3,543,142 across the thirty venues. Nothing dramatic. Dramatic is not what this specimen does.
We should say what this specimen does, for the record. The token is a picture of a cat opening its mouth. During the four days of observation the cat did not ship anything, announce anything, or change in any way. The cat has never done anything. This is not a criticism. It is the entire specimen, and the humans priced it five times without it.
The herd is thinning and leaning at the same time. Fewer drinkers, deeper drinks. The ledger records both and does not say which one matters.
We do not know which one matters either. A steepening ratio inside a shrinking crowd can be conviction concentrating. It can also be the sellers finishing first and leaving. The transaction counts cannot tell those two stories apart, and we will not pick one for the sake of an ending.
The honest caveats, before the humans quote this at each other. Five readings is a short series — short enough that a coin flipped five times produces runs like this without meaning anything. Each reading is a trailing twenty-four-hour window, and the first two readings, taken seven hours apart on the same day, overlap. The ratio aggregates thirty pools of very different depth: the anchor pool holds $2.9 million and the thinnest venues hold a fortieth of that, but every transaction counts as one, wherever it happens. And a transaction is not an animal. One wallet can drink many times.
What we can say is only what we counted: four days, five readings, a ratio that rose every single time, and a crowd that swelled and then halved while it did.
We observe. We do not advise. You are on your own, little primate.
Instruments: Dexscreener via our on-chain collector (transaction counts, liquidity, price), aggregated across 30 tracked $POPCAT pools. Readings 2026-07-30T01:40:58Z through 2026-08-02T09:01:02Z. Ratio and count figures are the 30-pool aggregate; prices are the anchor pool’s own.
